Can A 2 In Stack Vent Service Two Toilets?

  1. Hi all.

Im currently trying to improve my shower room to create a more useful en suite. I accept enlarged the room then information technology is big enough to add a toilet to the room. I volition shortly demand to connect the new toilet to the soil stack.

The simply manner i can meet this existence possible is to use the existing waste pipage of the toilet in the bathroom and service both toilets from the 1 waste branch.

To practice this i volition demand to lengthen the existing waste matter past near 70cm and connect to new toilet.

I assume that this is not ideal exercise but cannot find any regs to prohibit connecting ii into ane.

Any suggest is much appreciated every bit to whether this is adequate/workable.

On the photos (from beneath) the new toilets location will roughly be where the white lath is.

    Thank you

  3. Should exist fine as long equally the menses won't become from one to the other. The fall would need to be right as well towards the stack.
Might be tricky to go by the herringbone strutting without destroying it though, not that that stopped the previous plumber by the looks. You can always go higher up floor level and box it in every bit a final resort.
    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. Move the herringbone to far side of proposed new WC position, fit a junction where the existing bend is then conduct on to connect your new WC.

When doing the piece of work I would be looking though to cutting through the existing 110mm pipe and fit a coupler, continuing on from there with new pipage and fittings. (Probably just before the 1st socket on the horizontal run, replace from there.) Attempting to dismantle an existing joint and and so expecting it to seal again may be asking too much.

    • Thanks Thanks x one
  5. Thanks for your responses.

Do you call up i will demand to add a vent pipage on the new toilet to prevent siphoning when old toilet is flushed?
Had thought about running 40mm pipe from boss on new toilet pan connector up into the loft and fit with aav. Then box in pipe.

Exercise yous feel that is necessary? Would rather non do it merely evidently prefer a chip of ugly boxing to a ugly smell.

    Thanks again.

  6. As long sa the branch gradient is flat enough yous won't have trouble with syphoning. But you can fit an aav rather than needing ventilation if you have an existing vent pipage on the system anyhow, and so it wouldn't need a total boxing in column.
    • Thanks Cheers x 1
  7. Thank you john. At the moment the simply vent on the organisation i tin see is 40or50mm pipe that comes off the soil stack at showtime floor level.

At some point in time i think previous owners did away with 110mm vent pipe exiting meridian of stack out of the roof. The remainder of the stack at present stops only below my bath. 15360467634381907950850.jpg

  8. That vent doesn't really comply equally 50mm isn't big enough for the soil stack. But you'd probably be ok, especially with an aav on the arrangement. The other event is it should be 900mm or so to a higher place any opening windows within 3m horizontally. At that place may possibly be an aav on top which means at that place'due south no positive pressure relief then if the drains surcharge information technology volition bubble up your loos etc and also you aren't supposed to use aav outside.
So either manner it'southward not quite correct, but you'll probably become away with information technology.
    • Thanks Thanks x ane
  9. You're right John, that's a small aav for waste matter pipes. Personally I would run 110mm instead of the waste pipe, up + over the gutter to vent - if possible to do this - that should ensure the 2 toilets are OK

  11. Is there enough room nether the bath to exit the wall ?
  12. Give thanks guys for your input. Regarding the current vent i was enlightened that its location and size dont meet building regs, but information technology has seemed to operate fine for a number of years and the short time ive been here, and so unless edifice command flag it up id prefer to go out that task solitary and add a aav off the new toilets connector. There is non much room under the bathroom to add a 110 vent, which is the best solution, just wish it had been done properly at fourth dimension of previous alterations. 20180718_111036.jpg
  13. Edifice control would exist about interested in things condign less compliant than earlier, anything old that hasn't changed should be outside their interest. However you'll just have to wait and see and deal with that if it happens.
    • Thanks Thank you x i
  14. Could you lot get an 82mm pipe under in that location? Reducing to 3" (82mm) for the vented section is allowed.
    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  15. Im non sure i could make any alterations really without removing bathroom. 20180718_111120.jpg
And even then i dont retrieve i'd accept the height for a larger diameter pipage. The existing one is already close to underside of the bath. I suspect previous installer would take put in right size vent had it been possible. I'll need to have another think about alternating solutions otherwise i'll just go for the aav off the new toilet idea provided thats sufficient.
  16. You said you retrieve the previous owners had done away with the vent going out the roof, is that road still bachelor?
