2005 S60 "Brake failure stop faely"
Friends 2005 S60 AWD has a christmas tree of lights on the dash forth with the ABS light and sometimes the "anti-sideslip" light coming on and the following messages:
Brake failure end safely
ABS/Anti-sideslip service required
The car has just had all 4 rotors and pads replaced (not by me, honest) and seems to stop fine other than a random time when it feels like the ABS is cutting in fifty-fifty though the road is dry and non braking hard enough for ABS to cut in.
Whatsoever ideas what to cheque and where to start looking?
I'm planning on pulling each corner apart at the weekend to check the condition of the calipers etc. but with the christmas tree of lights and warnings there is something triggering an electrical sensor or ten somewhere.
Thanks for any pointers/advice.

Hey, I'grand also in Ottawa and I tackled this trouble earlier this year. I personally asked Davor from Lt Motors (located on Shore Street off St. Laurent Blvd, contrary the OC transpo garage) to browse for error codes with a scan tool. I find him a trustworthy guy; and error codes made it easy to make up one's mind what the problem was.
If information technology's electrical (equally it was for me) you'll probably need a new BCM. I upgraded my unit through XeModeX. I bought this module which I think is the same one for your s60. Good customer service and arrived the same week.
Replacing the module isn't too difficult, and doing the labour yourself volition definitely relieve yous some money. There are a couple of YouTube videos that tin give you a full general outline on how to exercise it. Y'all may likewise demand new ABS rings (cracked rings volition still crusade the warning light even if ABS is working), again, at that place'southward a YouTube video out there that can help you out if you're feeling easily on. Good luck.

Commonly that means:
Bad CEM (flooded)
Bad BCM (Up to 2005 MY. if MY is 2006+ it is unlikely)
Bad DEM
Bad wires.
If you take questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an respond

unfortunately, you will demand VIDA/Dice. generic code readers, fifty-fifty with SRS and ABS scanning will not be enough.
i'm battling the same issue. information technology could be the brake pedal position sensor which is located on the vacuum booster nether the hood.
also check this troubleshooting period nautical chart from XeMODeX,
http://xemodex.com/the states/knowledgebase/bcm ... 2002-2004/
again, you will demand VIDA/Dice to check comm to the BCM.

Once all the above are checked, there was a specific issue mostly with 2004 models due to poor connexion at the main ECM modules near the power pump reservoir.

Code reader tells me the post-obit:
Problem Codes list (6)
0011
BCM-0011 Wheel sensor, left front ; Faulty signal
0012
BCM-0012 Bicycle sensor, left front ; Mechanical error
0022
BCM-0022 Bicycle sensor, correct front ; Mechanical error
E000
BCM-E000 Advice between control units ; Comminicational problems
0065 Permanent fault
BCM-0065 Stop (brake) lamp switch ; Signal outside its permitted range
0021
BCM-0021 Wheel sensor, right front end ; Faulty bespeak
Is this likely to be a BCM module effect? I haven't had time to physically look at the sensors etc. even so but does seem foreign to take both fail.
This is a friend'south motorcar. I have a 2001 S60 (two.4L non turbo 2wd), hers is a 2005 AWD (2.5L turbo). Could I temporarily swap the BCM units and see if the errors follow or are they different units and/or are they "coded" per vehicle or would that be a recipe to blowing mine up?
Thank you, Duncan

Y'all cannot bandy from 2001 MY to 2005 because modules are completely unlike.
for 2005 MY you can simply put from 2005 MY plus it depends from what car it is taken and programming might be needed to make BCM work right.
